Filipino music icon, Apl.de.Ap, to Headline 2026 Kasayahan Filipino American Festival Portland

Portland, OR — June 2026 — Fresh off the global celebration of Philippine Independence Day, the Filipino American Festival Portland (FilAmFest PDX) proudly announces that Apl.de.Ap, Filipino American music icon and co-founder of the Grammy Award–winning group The Black Eyed Peas, will headline the 2026 Kasayahan: Filipino American Festival Portland on Saturday, September 12 at Pioneer Courthouse Square in downtown Portland.

Launched in 2024 as Oregon’s first Filipino American festival, Kasayahan— meaning “celebration” in Tagalog — has quickly become a cultural milestone for the state’s more than 40,000 Filipino Americans. This year marks the festival’s third year of showcasing Filipino culture, heritage, and community pride across the greater Portland area.

“Kasayahan is all about bringing our Filipino community together here in Oregon,” said founder Lyra Venaglia. “What an honor for us to have Filipino music icon Apl.de.Ap come to Portland for the first time to bring joy through music and dance.”

Traditionally held during Filipino American History Month in October, this year’s festival moves to September to honor the rich history and contributions of Filipino Americans. The day-long celebration will feature cultural performances showcasing traditional and contemporary Filipino arts; food and product vendors offering flavors and goods from across the Philippines; local artists sharing music, dance, and creative talent; raffle prizes, community activities, and more.

Apl.de.Ap is a Filipino American musician, rapper, record producer, entrepreneur, and philanthropist, best known as a founding member of The Black Eyed Peas. Beyond his global music career, he is co-founder of OMTSE, a company working to restore the agricultural industry in the Philippines by planting 380 million trees, and he leads the Apl.de.Ap Foundation International, which supports youth education and development.
